What is it?

The term drivability is used to describe how well a car performs while being driven.

What does it do?

It takes into account factors such as acceleration, handling, braking, and comfort. A car with good drivability is easy to control and enjoyable to drive. Poor drivability, on the other hand, can make a car difficult to handle and unpleasant to drive. There are many different causes of poor drivability, such as engine problems, transmission problems, and suspension problems.

Typical Wear and Tear

There are a number of problems that can affect a vehicle’s drivability. One common issue is a build-up of carbon deposits on the engine components. Over time, these deposits can restrict airflow and cause the engine to run less efficiently. Another problem is fouling of the spark plugs. This can be caused by a number of factors, including incorrect fuel-to-air ratio, oil leaks, and excessive fuel vaporization. When the spark plugs are fouled, it can cause the engine to misfire and run rough. In extreme cases, it can even lead to stalling. Finally, drivability problems can also be caused by issues with the transmission. Transmission problems can include everything from low fluid levels to worn out bearings and gears. These issues can cause the transmission to slip or shift erratically, which can make driving the vehicle very difficult.

Symptoms

  • Car stalling
  • Car hesitating when accelerating
  • Unusual exhaust smoke
  • Strange sounds coming from the engine
